An installation-performance by Taeg Nishimoto, representative of his research into space, structure and the use of materials, synthesizing here this Japanese architect’s characteristic manipulation of the perception of space.

Bow Structures was created in real time before the public’s eyes, giving rise to a continually renewed interplay of tensions between structure and the nature of the material. Suspended within the gallery space, the installation consists of a series of wooden arcs supported by vertical panels and drawn taut by steel cables. It is conceived as a single, continuous line interacting with the visitor’s mobility and stillness. This experience of movement suggests to the visitor the dimension of time subordinated to movement, as well as a contemplative moment between rationality and intuition, the predictable and the accidental.
