Jo Coenen   Maastricht / Amsterdam / Milan

This exhibition by the Dutch architect and Rijksbouwmeester (Government Architect) Jo Coenen presents the projects for four new libraries : the Amsterdam Public Library (design phase), the competition entry for the Biblioteca Europea di Informazione e Cultura in Milan, the competition entry for the new library in Dortmund, and the recently completed Centre Céramique, the Maastricht Public Library.

Through the journey across each phase — competition, design, construction — the visitor can discover in detail the creative process and the world in which the architect works.

Other projects, such as the residence of the Dutch Ambassador in Berlin and a house in Belgium, are also among those on show. These private houses are conceptually very close to the institutional buildings and underscore the homogeneous architectural language of Jo Coenen.
