Auer+Weber+Assoziierte

« 6 french projects… and 3 competitions » presents the work of the German architects office Auer+Weber+Assoziierte carried out in France since 2007. Founded in 1980 by Fritz Auer and Carlo Weber, the office now consists of a team of about 120 architects based in Stuttgart and Munich. AWA have completed numerous projects in Germany, Europe and the rest of the world, Including China and Chile. Timed to coincide with the commemoration of 50 years of Franco-German friendship, the public buildings of AWA perfectly illustrate the warmth of this relation. Once stereotypes have been put aside, it is easier to understand the attraction France now has for German designers. Being invited to build a European school in Strasbourg, on this side of the Rhine, was about much more than architecture and planning an Olympic venue beside the river Marne, after Munich 1972 (Fritz Auer and Carlo Weber were associates at Behnisch & Partner), shows a real change in Franco-German attitude. Furthermore being chosen to take part in the international competition on the heritage site of Lascaux was more than an honour. Therefore AWA is presenting its 6 french projects and a selection of 3 competition entries from among the many it has been invited to enter since 2007.
