The firm, founded in 1990, grew out of extensive experience in urban planning. Carried through from the earliest thinking to the finalizing of construction details, projects are developed around the idea of a « vertical tracking shot, » in which spatial mastery of urban issues takes precedence.

This experience led Eva Samuel to work on questions that precede architectural realization but already constitute the project itself : the interpretation of the brief and its feasibility, opening up a field of possibilities without presupposing an expected or conventional form. This preliminary questioning allows, on the one hand, for the terms of an imagined outcome to be stated and proposed, to be realized and/or shared with other stakeholders ; on the other hand, it allows for the study of the constant relationships between built and unbuilt : urban voids as the structure of urbanity.

The architectural proposal is the culmination of a process. It is within this process that one finds what carries meaning, drawing on the brief, on the site’s « already-there, » on our imagination.
