Santa-Rita Arquitectos   Lisbonne

Paysages stratégiques

Since its founding in 1990, the firm Santa-Rita Arquitectos has worked on various national and international projects and has won numerous awards. A large part of this work has been published and exhibited in Portugal and abroad.

The works on show represent different forms of intervention in the landscape they occupy, each a different relationship to the site that shapes the project by excavating it, adapting it, protecting it or fragmenting it. What these works have in common is an understanding of territory, of land, not only as a context for knowledge but also as a physical support with which buildings mutually influence one another.

In this sense, architecture asserts or defines itself as a means of extending and building the landscape — by lengthening it, breaking it down or protecting it, with the aim of preserving as much as possible of its integrity and its characteristics.

The scenography takes possession of the space so as to form a single tableau, composed of images to be read like postcards and illustrations of various landscapes.
