Vehovar & Jauslin Architektur   Zürich

Through a single project — the Arteplage in Yverdon for the Swiss National Exhibition Expo.02 — which brought them to public attention, the Zurich-based studio Vehovar & Jauslin presents here a working process founded on the conviction that every concept is subject to perpetual change.

Mateja Vehovar and Stefan Jauslin have also devoted themselves to disciplines such as landscape design, exhibition design, the planning of outdoor spaces, and artistic installation. Their activity is as much a work on the evolution of the project as on the evolution of architecture as a discipline ; the aim being not only to take up and use known ideas or techniques, but to enrich them with each new project. The firm’s work is founded on the conviction that every concept must be developed upstream and evolve together with the project, not invented after the fact. Concepts provide the choice of means and the way to use them, and they are never fixed.

The photographic work accompanying the built projects departs from the classical view, opting instead for a « model » aesthetic and, from there, for the ephemeral nature of construction.
