Virtuæl : Exposition Internationale 2004 en Seine Saint-Denis
On March 28, 2001, the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) selected France’s bid for the 2004 International Exhibition on the theme « image-Images. » France had not hosted an event of this scale since 1937.
Following a competition, BTuA / Bernard Tschumi Urbanistes Architectes was selected to oversee the general project management of the site (51 hectares) as well as the construction of certain buildings.
The exhibition offers a concentrated overview of the main stages of the 2004 International Exhibition, which will remain virtual, since the project was cancelled in the summer of 2002. More than an exhibition, it is an installation staging the firm’s output for the 2004 International Exhibition project. Through projections, visitors can discover the different stages and the genesis of the project and immerse themselves in its world.
Virtuæl is also the title of the book that BTuA presents on this occasion.
