OMA – Rem Koolhaas

L’Ambassade des Pays-Bas à Berlin

Exhibition presented exclusively in Paris of the new Netherlands Embassy in Berlin, designed and built by OMA – Rem Koolhaas.

In collaboration with Michelle Howard (OMA project leader) and Shadi Rahbaran (OMA architect), the gallery brings together the creative process through a selection of previously unpublished images revealing the adventure that was the construction of this building, inaugurated in March 2004.

At the center of the exhibition, the Embassy’s working model, together with reproductions of numerous study notebooks concerning the choice of façades, materials, lighting fixtures, interior architecture and signage, will allow visitors to trace the evolution of the building and, through it, to grasp OMA’s methods of working, analysis and application.

A series of projections presents the different phases of construction from 2000 to the building’s completion in 2004, through an examination of the concept of reworking the Berlin « Hof, » the realization of the « trajectory » concept, already tested for the Jussieu library competition (1993).
