This exhibition is a manifesto for the city rethought as a global, cooperative, symbiotic ecosystem, drawing on the active resources of living systems through « bionic » demonstration projects.

Today we are concerned with energy ; tomorrow, raw materials will gradually run out, for our world is undergoing profound transformation. The organization of cities, of territory, the separation of functions, as well as ways of life, will all need to be rethought. Already we are envisioning resource-sharing, density, and short supply chains. We are learning to harness flows, to turn consuming, polluting cities into productive ones — we are living through the industrial revolution of biotechnology.
