Devanthéry & Lamunière (dl‑a)   Genève

InDetails

The exhibition presents three major projects — the operational center of Philip Morris International in Lausanne, the Faculty of Life Sciences at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, and the Télévision Suisse Romande tower in Geneva — in order to define the firm’s own understanding of the relationship linking client and architect.

This is therefore not an exhibition about the architect’s work in itself, as the evolution of a project, but rather about the importance of the interface with the client, of understanding their needs and aspirations, and of how to organize spaces for their staff. Architecture thus serves two purposes at once : it is at the same time a vehicle for realizing dreams, and it organizes the materialization of space and the symbolism of its representations.

Large-format photographs by Fausto Pluchinotta, a film, detail notebooks and a model each present one of the three main projects. A series of 5 films presents 5 further projects, showing the precise relationship between client and architect.
