La Ferté-Vidame – solitude et rencontre – designers

Owned by the Conseil Général of Eure-et-Loir, the park at La Ferté-Vidame is undergoing a rehabilitation program. The département and the ADAC’28, which are jointly carrying out this revitalization project, called on the landscape architect and scenographer Christophe Ponceau.

The call for entries launched to designers in 2006 was themed around solitude and encounter, and asked them to design objects (micro-architecture, furniture) set apart from the more usual pathways — spaces where one might settle, rest, look elsewhere, together, differently. Nest, cocoon, alcove, islet, grove : so many terms to describe these « follies » that punctuate the secluded spaces within the park at La Ferté-Vidame. These works are the first traces of the Domaine de la Ferté-Vidame’s renewal, setting in motion a transformation, an opening-up and a revitalization of the park that will continue over the following six years.

In 2006, La Galerie d’Architecture hosted the exhibition « Le temps arrêté », which presented the work of four photographers on the site. In 2007, this new exhibition shows the atmosphere of the park at La Ferté-Vidame following the installation of the furniture.
