Jarmund / Vigsnæs Architects   Oslo

Lost in Nature

La Galerie d’Architecture is pleased to present the work of the Norwegian firm Jarmund / Vigsnæs Architects. This exhibition, organized as part of the International Polar Year, is the first of three exhibitions devoted to contemporary Norwegian architecture to be held at La Galerie d’Architecture. The Norwegian scientific community has been deeply invested in the ambitious program of the International Polar Year, which will bring about a significant advance in knowledge of the polar regions — regions that hold part of the answers to the questions the whole planet is asking about the evolution of its environment. The firm Jarmund / Vigsnæs Architects, based in Oslo for the past 11 years, works on projects that are often connected to nature, within particular topographies and extreme climatic conditions. With a contemporary architectural language, the architects explore a sensual, tactile architecture that reflects the specific character of each site. The exhibition centers on this search for the equation « Nature + Process = Construction, » and offers visitors genuine interaction around this theme.
