Gonçalo Byrne’s vast body of work has been honored many times, on an international scale. His output stands out particularly in the fields of heritage and culture.

Among his highly diverse body of work, notable examples include the Flemish Brabant Provincial Government headquarters in Leuven, the Alcobaça Monastery in Portugal, the maritime traffic control tower at the Port of Lisbon, the restructuring of the « Imperio » block in the Chiado district of Lisbon, the theater in Faro in the Algarve, and the extension of the Museu Nacional de Machado de Castro in Coimbra.
